Description
Color Cat Care is the standalone Poki-facing Color Sort variant of the Matchy Cat Unity project. The player sees one active cat need, deploys an unlocked relevant care station from the Cat Locker, drags the cat to that station before resources are earned, and then solves Color Sort tube puzzles to generate the station's visible resource requirements while the cat sustains the care action.
Project context
Color Cat Care shares the Matchy Cat repository and branch codex/build011-reverse-requirements. It is built from code/MatchyCat using Assets/Project/Scenes/ColorSortCareScene.unity and the Unity menu MatchyCat/Setup Color Sort Generator Build, with product/build metadata from Assets/Data/ColorGeneration/ColorSortGeneratorGameConfig.asset. It preserves the current no-Patience reverse-requirements care loop: no active Patience, no cat-leaves/recovery loop, no ReturnCatNeed or Call Cat Back, no recovery Cotton Ball board, no top-level color meters, and no Bonding runtime effects. Color Sort authored levels 1-10 play sequentially once, then randomize from those layouts; standard boards remap piece colors toward the active station requirements, exclude Cotton Ball, and may use Purple only as an extra counted color when more identities are needed. There was no active Color Cat Care experiment when colorsort-build005.zip was submitted; the build was sent as a side effect of Matchy Cat adjustments, so current state is needs analysis of the uploaded Poki Player Fit and playtest-recording evidence before choosing a next experiment.
Player Promise
Persona
Poki players who understand lightweight color-sorting puzzles quickly and may respond to a cute cat-care wrapper when it gives the puzzle clear purpose without interrupting the core sorting flow.
Fantasy
Care for a cat by sorting colorful toy/resource pieces into clean groups, turning puzzle completions into visible progress on the cat's current need.
Current validation question
Do Color Sort mechanics plus the Matchy Cat no-Patience care wrapper show enough player fit to justify a focused next experiment, and is the main issue now puzzle boredom/level pacing rather than control comprehension?
Primary Reference
Reference
Reference thesis
Color Cat Care should use conventional Color Sort / Water Sort as the primary reference. The evidence so far suggests players usually understand the tube-sorting mechanics quickly, so the core product question is not basic control comprehension; it is whether the sorting loop can stay interesting past the second or third puzzle when wrapped in lightweight cat-care needs and station progress. The cat-care layer should provide purpose, reward, and pacing around the sort puzzle, but it should not obscure the simple source-tube/destination-tube decision loop that makes Color Sort readable on web.
Alignment snapshot
Use Color Sort Puzzle as the core gameplay reference: clear tube capacity, contiguous same-color group movement, readable legal moves, short early boards, and a deliberate difficulty/variety ramp. Use Matchy Cat/Fishdom/Clumsy Ninja only as secondary context for cat-care purpose, station payoff, and emotional framing, not as permission to add complex care gates before the Color Sort loop proves it can hold attention.
