Breakfast Cooking Time

Breakfast Cooking Time is a discovery-stage Unity cooking/time-management prototype. The active build asks the player to prepare requested recipes at stations while NPC competitors also fulfill orders, moving through entrance, matchmaking, gameplay, tutorial, scoring, and results states. Current engineering work is refactoring the legacy Cooking Challenge client toward MMCore-compliant architecture while preserving gameplay behavior unless a later experiment explicitly changes it.

Can Breakfast Cooking Time validate a faithful Royal Cooking-style baseline for accessible cooking/time-management order fulfillment on Poki before adding speculative mechanics or reskins?

Royal Cooking
Reference Thesis
Breakfast Cooking Time should use Royal Cooking as the primary reference for a faithful baseline around accessible cooking/time-management order fulfillment. The first experiment should preserve the reference direction at a high level: clear customer/order demand, readable station/recipe actions, short pressure-driven service rounds, fast feedback, and immediate replay/iteration. Details not yet evidenced in MM-DOS should be verified against the reference before being copied.

Active Hypotheses

A faithful Royal Cooking-style baseline will give BCT a clearer first product signal than continuing implementation in the abstract, because players will encounter a familiar accessible cooking/time-management loop with readable orders, station actions, pressure, feedback, and retry rhythm.

BCT already has station-based recipes, rounds, scoring, tutorial and results flow, but MM-DOS had no primary reference assigned. A baseline experiment anchored to Royal Cooking reduces design ambiguity and creates a clearer Player Fit comparison before portfolio decisions or reskins.

Can Breakfast Cooking Time validate a faithful Royal Cooking-style cooking/time-management baseline on Poki?

Set up the first BCT product experiment as a faithful-primary-reference baseline using Royal Cooking. The goal is to validate the accessible cooking/order-fulfillment loop before adding speculative mechanics, extra meta, or reskins. Existing implementation and MMCore migration work remain technical context, but the experiment should be judged as a product baseline against the primary reference. Weekly direction confirmed September 27: Candidate for one of two Poki Player Fit slots for 2026-09-28 through 2026-10-04, alongside BCT, Fruits Inc 3 and Space Shooter. Túlio selects two based on readiness; this game is not yet guaranteed a slot. No time-of-day commitment.

Expected Result
Players should quickly understand what to cook, where to act, and how performance is scored. Success means a clean enough first Player Fit signal to decide whether the Royal Cooking-style baseline is viable before considering reskins or deeper redesign.
Prototype Scope
Align the playable slice toward Royal Cooking only where reference behavior is already known or directly verified. Prioritize a coherent first-session loop: readable order/customer demand, clear station/recipe action sequence, fast success/failure feedback, short pressure-driven rounds, scoring/results, and quick retry. Keep undocumented Royal Cooking details as verification tasks instead of copying guessed mechanics.

Non-Goals

  • Do not add Fruits Inc/BCT reskin setup or project relationship yet
  • Do not invent Royal Cooking-specific details that have not been verified
  • Do not expand into broad restaurant meta/progression before baseline validation
  • Do not treat MMCore migration completion as the experiment's product success criterion
  • Do not change unrelated portfolio projects

Evidence Capture

observe
Time to understand first order · Whether station/recipe actions are readable without heavy explanation · Whether pressure feels like service tension rather than confusion · Whether players retry after results · Player Fit average, median, P90, start rate, under-three-minute rate, and qualitative boredom/confusion tags
reference work
Inspect the existing Royal Cooking catalog/reference record before implementation and add only evidence-backed details to BCT design notes. · If a detail is not present in MM-DOS or directly observed from the reference, mark it as an open verification item rather than implementing from memory.
